Games for Change Festival 2016: Breaking Down Walls

I recently had the privilege of attending the 13th annual Games for Change Festival here in New York City. At the same time that the United Kingdom gave into fear-mongering and voted to break off from the European Union, I was listening to game developers talk about how they're reaching people in a positive way through their creations. All over the world, communities are making rash decisions based on fear, but some game developers are trying to build bridges and break down walls through empathy, Read more [...]

“Her Story” Gets Its First iPhone & iPad Sale

Her Story By: Sam Barlow I was a little obsessed with Sam Barlow's FMV murder mystery Her Story when it first came out. It might be my game of the year, as no other game burrowed into my head that deep. It's such a unique and chilling experience. July has been a pretty busy month with some of my favorite games releasing. So if you missed anything, here's your opportunity to catch up on any good games that might have slipped by you. July saw the long-awaited release of Glitch Games' Forever Lost Episode 3. I had played it during the beta test, so I didn't have to wait quite as long as everyone else. Read more [...]

“Her Story” Fans Are In For a Treat If the Game Sells 1 Million Copies

Her Story By: Sam Barlow **Note: If you haven't already finished playing "Her Story," turn back now. There are SPOILERS ahead!** I've recently been interviewing creator Sam Barlow and actress Viva Seifert about the full-motion video (FMV) murder mystery game Her Story. If you've played the game (and if you're reading this, I hope you did), you may have come across the video clips in which she sings an altered version of an old murder ballad called "The Dreadful Wind and Rain" or "The Twa Sisters."
