Relentless Software’s The Trace Coming March 26th to iOS Devices

**Update: The Trace is now available in the App Store. See my full review here.

If you’re a fan of point-and-click adventure games or murder mysteries, you’ll want to keep an eye out for The Trace coming out this month, on March 26th, for iOS devices. It was developed by Relentless Software, the folks behind games like Murder Files. I got my hands on an advanced copy, and am thoroughly enjoying it so far. It’s a first-person 3D adventure in which you must look for clues and solve a murder. Everything was designed with the touchscreen in mind, so it feels really good to play on both my iPad and iPhone. Objects you pick up can be rotated and examined for clues, something players of The Room will be familiar with. I’ll have a full review for you when the game is released, but for now check out this short bit of video footage I took of the first crime scene, the Garage:

The game will cost a one-time payment of $4.99/╬ô├╢┬╝Γö£Γòæ3.99, which includes all three chapters that are part of the same case. It has a proper ending, so there’s no waiting for future episodes to find out what happens. The Trace will run on iPhone 4 but is optimized for iPhone 5 and above and iPad 2 and above, running iOS 7 and above. There will also be iCloud compatibility, so you can start the game on one device and continue on another. You can learn more about the game at Relentless Software’s website.

Albeit different, this seems to be more in line with what we expected from Criminel.

Yeah, and I played some of this before Criminel, which made that all the more disappointing.
