40. Grandpa has moved, so you can now take the tape recorder.

41. Go back to the balcony and tap on the songbird. Use the tape recorder to record its chirping.
42. Go back to the dining room. There’s a device with two birds at the side. If you press the two buttons, one bird chirps and the right light turns green. But the left bird breaks. Use the tape recorder to play the songbird’s chirping to open the box. Take the bolt from inside.
43. Go back to the garden behind the laundry room. Insert the bolt with the rest of them and then go downstairs.
44. Pick up the tire from the floor and the broken trophy from the box.
45. Go back to the front of the manor and head right to the car. Use the jack to replace the tire, then take the jack.
46. Climb back up the handkerchief rope to the stuck window. Use the jack to open it and go through to the study.
47. Take the instant camera (Polaroid) from the desk. Look at the monitor to see the footage from the security camera in the garage. And last, examine the strange device with gold spheres. One of the spheres will open up, revealing a coin. But if you try to take it, it plays a shell game, where you have to follow the old coin and then guess the right location when it stops. Keep trying until you get it. You can also open the door so you can access the room from inside the house.
48. Go back to the billiards room. You should have two old coins now, so you can insert them into the slot machine. Pull the lever, then take the bucket of coins.
49. Go back to the kitchen. Place the bucket of coins on the dumb waiter hook. A plate of dishes will come back. Take the downspout piece.
50. Climb back up the handkerchief rope to the window. Fix the pipes with the downspout piece. Now water flows into the garden and the potatoes grow!
51. Go back through the laundry room to the garden and pick a potato!
52. Go back downstairs and place the potato in the device next to the other potato. Turn on the machine and a shrink ray will shrink the Key to the City! Pick up the shrunken key.
53. Go back all the way upstairs and use the shrunken key to unlock the dollhouse. Take the batteries and postage stamp.
54. Go back all the way to the first screen of the game. Place the stamp on the comic book mailer and then place it in the mailbox. Now we just have to wait for the mail carrier to arrive!
55. Go back through the fireplace to the basement. Use the hand drill on the barrel. It’s too dark to see, so use the instant camera with flash to take a photo of the inside of it. It looks like a ball from the seals toy!

I can’t make the tape recorder work in Return to Grisly Manor. I’ve pressed it next to the singing bird, but it doesn’t replay next to the broken bird. I’ve uninstalled the game twice, but the same thing keeps happening. Any ideas?
Was the bird singing when you used the tape recorder next to it? If not, then you missed something?
Sorry, I had no problem with this – I clicked the bird and it started singing, then I just ‘used’ the tape recorder. Clicked the used recorder on the broken bird and the box opened.

Hey. I’m completely and utterly stuck on the scale-problem when you’re back in the 1999 version of the mansion. Anyone’s got a clue how to solve it?

Same here, Jenny! Been stuck for days! So annoying, I really can’t see the pattern…? Did you get the clue from behind the painting? Does it relate to the scales?
Silje, yeah I got that clue but I really can’t figure it out. I’m thinking it has to do with the scales but I just can’t see it. Haha, it’s driving me crazy!
Hahah, me too! But can you use a clue? I can’t, because of a bug with the bird/tape recorder as mentioned over here, so I can’t get any new clues. Please update me if you figure it out haha 🙂

I can’t get any more clues through the game either. It is stuck on the tape recorder and bird clue and I can’t figure out the scale puzzle either. I’m super annoyed. Wish they would fix the bug so I can get another clue.

You can only do so once you find a tool to open it up. Are you at that point yet?

Totally stuck, in laundry to make purple bear, canΓÇÖt see anything through microscope, but put dials colours in correct sequence, but the dryer door wonΓÇÖt open!! Please help me keep my sanity.
