Baba is You: Walkthrough Guide and Solutions

Baba is You is a ridiculously innovative puzzle game where you push words around like blocks and see how they interact with each other. Sadly, it’s not available on iOS yet, but it’s a testament to how much I’m enjoying it that I’m willing to play on my PC and Switch. I’ve been recording my playthrough, but I also started making straight walkthrough videos for those who don’t want to watch me figure things out. This is a work in progress, so please bear with me. If you need help with levels I haven’t added yet, feel free to ask for extra help in the comments section.

Tips & Tricks:

– In Baba is You, you push words around as blocks to form different rules. Something always has to be YOU.

– To complete a level, you have to meet the requirements to WIN. This can mean a number of things, but in general, whatever is YOU has to either stand on the object that is WIN or the object that is YOU has to also be WIN. This likely won’t make sense until you see it in action.

– Don’t worry about mistakes. The game has an unlimited undo button.

– If you’re stuck on a level, try another and come back. I’ve found some bonus levels easier than regular levels. So no need to hit your head against one level for hours.

– Experiment with things. Each time you’re given a new word, like HAS, mess around and see what it does. You’re meant to learn through play, as the game will never explain anything.

Intro Levels:

Level 00 Baba is You:

This is easy. Just push your way through the rocks to the flag or go around everything to the flag.

01 Where Do I Go?:

Just push one of the blocks for WALL IS STOP to break up the sentence. Now you can go through walls. First, move the blocks to form FLAG IS WIN. Then, head onto the flag.

02 Now What Is This?:

You’re the wall here. So just break up the sentence FLAG IS STOP. Then push FLAG IS WIN together and touch any of the flags.

03 Out of Reach:

First, push one of the rocks into the water to create a gap in the water. Then just move ROCK down to make ROCK IS WIN. Head back up and touch the rock to complete the level.

04 Still Out of Reach:

Push the three rocks up. Then line them up horizontally with one of the words in SKULL IS DEFEAT and push them right to break up the sentence. Now you can reach the flag!

05 Volcano:

First, push BABA IS YOU to the left. Head down and push the rock out. Move LAVA to the left of IS and move PUSH to the right of IS to make LAVA IS PUSH. Then just push through the lava to the flag.

06 Off Limits:

First, break up the words WALL IS STOP. Then move WALL to push BABA out of the way and make WALL IS YOU. Now you can move the whole wall up to the flag and win!

07 Grass Yard:

You can walk through walls. So just push FLAG and WIN to the right and then up and maneuver them vertically around the IS that’s part of BABA IS YOU. Now you can touch the flag and win!

Level 08 Slideshow:

This one’s trippy. The whole level moves down each time you move. So you need to count your moves. Head left twice, up three times, then right at least twelve times, down three times, then just go left until you hit the flag.

Level 09 Fragile Existence:

Be careful here. If you make LEVEL IS BABA, you’re going to unlock part of a meta puzzle but have a bit of trouble getting back here. First, push KEY up. Then, push BABA IS YOU right up against IS HOT. Push the IS up and left to make KEY IS YOU and BABA IS YOU. Push KEY down to make BABA IS KEY and BABA IS YOU. Now, break up BABA IS YOU and use the IS to make KEY IS HOT. Now you’re a hot key. Walk through the door to melt it. Make WALL IS MELT. Move another IS from outside under LEVEL. Then, use one key inside and one key outside to move HOT under LEVEL IS to make LEVEL IS HOT. The walls will melt! Push WIN down to make LEVEL IS WIN.

Bonus: For the meta level, make KEY IS YOU and then LEVEL IS BABA. Now you’ll have Baba running around on the overworld map.

10 Hostile Environment:

Make FLAG IS KEKE. Then make KEKE IS PUSH. Push one Keke up against DEFEAT and push up once. Leave it there. Push the other one below it and facing up, but with two spaces between it and the other Keke. Push PUSH right above the bottom Keke. Now, make KEKE HAS BABA. Then make KEKE IS WEAK AND MOVE, but make sure to push IS in last, so the Kekes don’t start moving till you’re ready. You can also set everything up so KEKE goes in last. Anyway, once it’s ready, press the spacebar to wait until one Keke is destroyed and turns into Baba. As Baba, go down once so the other Keke doesn’t get destroyed. Then, go right and make FLAG IS WIN. Then, head out and push MOVE down. Then push KEKE IS WEAK AND left. Use all those words together with the left FLAG and the HAS to make KEKE HAS FLAG AND IS WEAK. Touch Keke to break him and he’ll turn into a flag and you’ll win!

Bonus: To turn the the level into a flag for the meta puzzle, do everything the same up until you reach the area with FLAG, IS and WIN. Instead, fo right and push IS right and down. Push FLAG right once, then down, then all the way left. Press the spacebar and let Keke push FLAG up, making LEVEL IS FLAG. Now the level on the overworld map will be a flag!     I found a solution for the Level Finale – A Way Out. The solution is as follows:

    I will refer to the top-right enclosed area as “TR” going forward.Note that this enclosed area has two ICE blocks on the south wall.

    Move Baba over into TR with the belt which shifts downward. Move Baba onto the belt, and keep moving south until you push ROCK as far south as it will go (it is flush against the south wall in this enclosed area).

    Bring Baba back outside of TR, and circle counter-clockwise around the outside of TR until you are one cell below the farthest-right ICE block. Since the level specifies that Baba IS MELT, you can walk on top of the ICE block, and walk inside of TR, by moving up two cells. You are now inside of TR, and ROCK is to your immediate left. Walk left a total of 6 times, moving ROCK to the left twice. Now, one again, leave TR.

    In the middle of the level, there is a preformed “KEKE IS PUSH”. Take the IS block, and move it onto the BELT at the top of TR. You will notice that by doing this, it shifts IS below the BELT, so that if you now step onto the BELT, you are able to push IS as far south as it will go, flush against the south wall (you did this to ROCK earlier). Once you have pushed IS as far south as it will go, your puzzle now shows ROCK with one empty cell to the right of it, and IS, right next to that empty cell. Leave TR once again.

    Once again, with Baba, go counter-clockwise around the outside of TR, and this time step onto the second ICE block, and move inside of TR, like you did before. Move Baba to the left a total of 3 times, so that IS is moved exactly one cell to it’s left, allowing ROCK and IS to be touching eachother. Leave TR.

    Do the exact series of steps you did in the above paragraph, with the IS block, only now using the KEKE block. This time, by bringing KEKE inside of TR, and pushing it as far south as it will go, you will complete the phrase “ROCK IS KEKE”. This is the key that solves the puzzle.

    Because KEKE has no state in this puzzle, Baba can walk on top of KEKE. Bring Baba outside of TR, and maneuver south so that Baba walks on top of the two KEKE, to the right of the skulls. You will now be able to push WIN to the right once, making “FLAG IS WIN”.

    Bring Baba outside and touch the FLAG to win.

    Hello, i turned baba into level before complete the level…how can i do to resolve the 9th puzzle…?
