Chapter 5, Rome:

You can watch my video for Chapter 5 or continue below for my step-by-step guide:

1. Zara has taken a trip to the bazaar to find Hakim. Two merchants are arguing and blocking your way, so you have to break up the fight. Pick up the 3 gold coins. Also, look at the cabbage ledger and the map of the bazaar.

2. Talk to the bow merchant. He’s willing to sell you the broken bow for 3 gold coins. So give them to him to get the bow. Now we have a bow string.

3. Use the bow string to fix the musician’s instrument. He’ll play a tune and then give you 13 gold coins as thanks.

4. Give the cactus merchant 10 gold coins for a cactus.

5. Feed the cactus to the camel. Then climb on its back to reach the decorative wagon wheel.

6. Replace the broken wheel with the new one.

7. Tap on the cabbages. Let’s solve the Cabbage Puzzle. You need to drag cabbages that are going to the Sun Gate to the red cart. Drag the cabbages that are going to Star Gate to the blue cart. Use the ledger and the map to figure it out. It should look like this:

8. Now you can get through and see Hakim. He asks you to recover two items for him before he’ll talk. One is an intricately painted yellow vase and the other is a golden necklace with precious stones on it.

9. Grab the bucket. Give the 3 gold coins to the banana merchant for a banana.

10. Give the banana to the monkey to get a slingshot.

11. Use the slingshot on the lantern to get the key that’s inside.

12. Go back a scene and use the slingshot to get a coconut from the tree. Also, fill the bucket with water.

13. Go back through the star gate and pour the water into the baby elephant’s bowl. Place the coconut next to it. Then use the key to unlock the chest and get Hakim’s necklace and 3 gold coins.

14. Talk to the vase merchant. He wants 7 coins for the yellow vase but says you can barter for them if you have 3 coins. Let’s solve the Bartering Puzzle! Here’s what to do. I’ve also numbered them below so you can see the order to trade.

Trade the 3 coins for 1 hot pepper & 1 spice.
Trade the 1 hot pepper & 1 spice for 1 carpet.
Trade the carpet for 3 hot peppers.
Trade 1 hot pepper for 2 spices.
Trade 1 hot pepper & 1 spice for 1 carpet.
Trade 1 hot pepper & 1 spice for 1 carpet.
Trade 2 carpets for 5 coins & 1 goat.
Trade 1 goat for 1 hot pepper.
Trade 5 coins for 6 hot peppers.
Trade all 7 hot peppers for 7 coins.
Trade the 7 coins for the yellow vase.

15. Give the vase and necklace to Hakim. He gives you your 3 coins back and then tells you that Mustafa was gambling at a seedy establishment. He gives you a ring so you can get into the place.

16. Show the ring to the guard to get into the gambling house.

17. You need to find something expensive to wager. They won’t let you play with just 3 coins, Pick up the velvet cloth, two senet pieces, and pouch of 4 coins.

18. Dip the cloth in the wine and then use it to clean off the tablet of hieroglyphs.

19. Leave the room and use the 7 coins to buy tobacco from the merchant.

20. Go back inside and give the tobacco to the person with the hookah. She’ll give you catnip in return.

21. Give the catnip to the cat to get another senet piece.

22. Talk to the man in the back with a Senet board game. Place the three senet pieces down with the rest and then solve the Senet Puzzle. You need to drag the pieces to the correct positions on the board. Each column should only have one piece. Use the hieroglyphs tablet to figure it out. Basically, just count the number of each animal facing left or right. If the one facing left has more than the one facing right, place the first piece on the top row for “greater than” and the second piece on the bottom row for “less than.” And vice versa. If they’re the same number for each, just put both pieces in the middle row. It should look like this in the end:

23. Take the diamond and give it to the gambling matriarch so you can play Mancala. To win, you need to collect all 5 gold pearls. Here are the instructions that the game gives you. You can watch my video if you need help. The matriarch then tells you where to find Mustafa.

And that’s the end of Chapter 5! Click here to continue to Chapter 6 or choose a chapter below.

No matter what I do the cabbages are wrong, I even paid for the solution with stars, and I copied it exactly, and nothing happens….
How so I get past this?

    1. Princess Monkey

There is a glitch with the cabbages. If it is visually correct, but the game will not accept it, switch two of the same types between the carts: switch a red cabbage from the red cart with a red cabbage from the blue cart, a long cabbage for a long cabbage, etc., until the game accepts the arrangement.

  2. Shazza

Divide in the carts as the map with flags say ,look closely at the stars on the cart

  3. Barbara

Notice that there is a difference in the green lettuce or cabbage. One has a little ruffly edge that sticks up all around.

  4. Ginny

IΓÇÖm not getting past the bartering puzzle, are you having the same problem and thatΓÇÖs why the walkthrough stops there? I get to 8 coins and get told to go and exchange for the vase but no ΓÇÿpuzzle completedΓÇÖ star and when I exit the puzzle I donΓÇÖt get anything.

    1. Disconnected

There’s a tent that trades for the vase to complete the puzzle

      1. Tsung

For the bartering puzzle, all you need is the step 1, 2, 3, 4, then repeat 234, to get unlimited amount of the goods. Then just barter whatever you want, and when you are bored just get to 7 coins to barter for the vase.

    2. Karin

Le vase est dans le magasin de troc, il faut l’╬ô├╢┬ú╬ô├«├ëchanger contre les pi╬ô├╢┬úΓö¼ΓöÉces d’or

  5. Grandzone

    Need help @chapter 6 with door and symbol… ╬ô├½├¡Γò₧├åΓö£├╗Γö£├á

  6. Cat

Anyone figured out the mancala? IΓÇÖm able to get 2-3 of the gold stones but canΓÇÖt get any further.

    1. Michele

I know I started with the 3 and ended with the largest pile. Hope that helps a little

    2. Disconnected

I think my opening three moves were 3, the second 4 and the 2. It took me forever and there’s a couple of routes that get you to one move left and unable to grab the last pearl.

    3. Disconnected

I did it a while ago. If I remember correctly I moved the group of three, the second group of four, the group of two to start and one of the two pots at the end were my last move but I can’t remember which…I know I didn’t move the second pot until it was at 13 to capture the space across from it…sorry I can’t be more help.

  7. gabbie

GUYS I FIGURED OUT THE CABBAGE
red cart: 2 romaine, 2 purple, 1 round green, 1 cauliflower
blue cart: 2 purple, 1 romaine, 1 cauliflower, 2 round green (tight one too if that makes sense)

I’m trying to trade 3 coins for a yellow vase wish me luck

  8. Jc1981

Anyone get the weird senet puzzle in the next chapter?

  9. Janet

IΓò¼├┤Γö£├ºΓö£├╗m stuck – I did the vase first and it ate all my coins, Now I have no coins to buy the banana. Help?

    1. Janet

Oh, I figured it out! You give Hakim the vase and heΓÇÖll give you 3 coins. Yay!

  10. Meer

I thought it was Cinnamon not a carpet

    1. Proncess Monkey

      Me too. Lol.

  11. Szilvi

I made 10 coins at the barter puzzle. So there are more solutions. 🙂 I already gave banana to the monkey. Zara said she would give the 3 coins to charity. Nice 🙂

  12. Stephanie Kay Rowe

Really would like a step-by-step of Mancala. I never have understood this game to begin with. 😕

  13. Jessica

I’m genuinely confused. Will I need to restart? I did the haggling puzzle before I did the elephant, and now I have no coins. I’m not able to buy the banana for the monkey to get the slingshot.

    1. Disconnected

Talk to the guy again after haggling and he’ll reimburse you

  14. Nicola

I got 10 coins, and when I came out of the barter it only put 3 in my purse and I can’t buy the vase. I’m stuck in a loop.

    1. Alison

I’m having the same problem. I’ve completed the barter puzzle several times and every time I exit the game, I’m back down to 3 coins, no matter how many I had when I finished bartering.

I finally just gave up and bought my way out of the game with 30 stars. Frustrating.

      1. Disconnected

Hi there, the vase is in a stall in the market. You don’t leave and then buy the vase you buy the vase and then leave the market (it’s to stop you from earning a small fortune with the profit loop and going down the other coin path prematurely)

  15. Linda Harris

    I can’t find the monkey?!?!?!?!

  16. Bel

How do you get out of the gambling room to buy the tobacco? I can’t find the exit!

    1. Princess Monkey

Press the arrow in the top left corner of the screen. It will exit the gambling room.

  17. Loki

The bartender puzzle can be solved via much simple way
First, buy one pepper and one spice with 3 coins

    The do the following once
    1 chillipepper + 1 spice to 1 carpet

    You get total 3 chillipepper
    And then loop the following
    1 chillipepper to 2 spice
    1 chillipepper + 1 spice to 1 carpet, 2 times
    1 carpet to 3 chillipeppers, 2 times
You can earn 3 chillipeppers per loop
Once you have 7 or more chilli pepper, just trade them all for coins.
The game would stop you from keep trading once you have 7 or more coins, thus there is meaningless to earn as much chillipeppers as possible, enough is enough.

p.s. the white cat is very beautiful and charming

    1. loki

Sorry the first part is missing one step: one carpet for 3 chillipeppers
