My Week Unwrapped: February 11, 2022 – Inua, Another Tomorrow, Dungeon and Gravestone, Dungeon Legends 2 and More

Hi everyone, and welcome back to My Week Unwrapped, where I discuss all the games I’ve been playing over the last seven days. I mostly continued playing games I was already in middle of last week, but there’s still some new ones to cover. Also, the pre-release games from last week are coming tonight or tomorrow, so I want to share more impressions about them. Genshin Impact continues to dominate much of my time and another big update is coming this week, so expect to hear more about that. Anyway, let’s get to the games!

Inua – A Story in Ice and Time

Inua is a relaxed, narrative game in which you manipulate the past to affect the present, and vice versa. I don’t know much about the Franklin expedition, which the story focuses on, but I’m enjoying learning about it. It was a British mission in the Arctic that ended in a shipwreck. Now, you can manipulate a reporter to help her research what happened and even help those on the expedition in the past. To do so, you search the environment for tokens, which can then be used with a character to get them thinking about that idea or acting on it. I’m not sure if it’s possible to mess up or stray from the main storyline, since it seems to be broken up into chapters. But I’m enjoying it for what it is. I love the art direction of the game and the voice acting is all top-notch. It reminds me of South of the Circle in some ways, though I’m too early on to tell how the story and the time manipulation will hold up. For now I’m still interested and plan to complete it. I should mention, though, that there seems to be a bug that could freeze your game if you stop at the start of a chapter. So I recommend playing a tiny bit into it to avoid that problem. You can watch some of my gameplay videos below for a better sense of what it’s like and I’ll have more impressions for you next week after I complete it.

Another Tomorrow

Glitch Games have been working on their latest point-and-click adventure, Another Tomorrow, for almost two years now. I’ve also been playing it on and off for almost as long, as I got access to their beta pretty early on. I finally had a chance to finish it now that it’s releasing, and it’s got quite a few stumpers. It’s also a fairly large game that spans various locations, something that’s pretty new for them. Usually their games take place in one area that you explore by foot. But this time you have a map that lets you instantly transport to a new location. The art style is also different, with each scene turned into a 3D diorama. It’s quite striking and makes it stand out more compared to their earlier games. I don’t have a review ready, but the game releases tomorrow and I have a giveaway for codes on several platforms. If you own an iOS or android device or a PC, you can enter here to try and win a copy on the platform of your choice. There’s also a demo on Steam that you can play before buying the full game. And last, if you get stuck stuck on any puzzles you can try the walkthrough guide I’m working on.

Dungeon and Gravestone

Apparently, Dungeon and Gravestone was released five years ago, but I’d never heard of it before. Now it’s been re-released with a “new system” and “freshened up story.” Since I have nothing to compare it to, I can’t really speak about the improvements. But it’s a roguelite where you delve into randomly generated dungeons and try to get as far as you can. You have the option to leave at certain floors in order to keep your loot for the next run. Otherwise, you run the risk of dying and losing everything you looted. This core loop can be a compelling one, and I’m sure there’s an audience that will enjoy it. But I’m not a big fan of the art style or the camera angle, so already I was a bit turned off from the start. It also doesn’t help that there are a lot of menus and not a whole lot is explained. I also didn’t like how the attacking controls felt, as it seemed I always had to get up close and take damage in order to deal damage. Again, I’m sure it’s a perfectly fine game for some people, but it’s just not for me.

Dungeon Legends 2

I really wanted to like Dungeon Legends 2, as there aren’t a whole lot of old-school first-person dungeon crawlers on the App Store. My main issue with it is that — I assume for some sense of realism — the developer has chosen to make the character’s vision all wobbly. It’s constantly shaking and sometimes even staying sideways. I already get motion sickness from many first-person games and with this I was sick before I even started, because I could see the drunken movement behind the open menus. Somehow I stuck with it for about twenty minutes, but then I was sick for hours after. So I definitely won’t be returning to this one. If the constant motion doesn’t bother you, by all means give it a try. But I recommend watching some of my gameplay video first.

Dungeons of Dreadrock

I played some of Dungeons go Dreadrock for you last week and was really impressed with the clever puzzle design. I’m still fairly early on at level 31 out of 100, but I’m thoroughly enjoying every bit of it. Some levels are more stressful for me because I’m being chased by an ogre or an elven archer is shooting at me. But since each room is a puzzle, I enjoy working it out even when it stresses me out a bit. There’s some brilliant stuff going on here that I don’t want to spoil, but if you’re ok with spoilers you can watch some of my videos below. I’m definitely planning to continue with it and I hope I have the skills and patience to see it through to the end. It releases in just two days for free with ads and an IAP to remove those ads, so make sure to pre-order it if you haven’t yet.

Genshin Impact

And last, this week has been pretty quiet in Genshin Impact. There was one event where we showed a cute little bear around the world of Teyvat. But mostly I was just doing my dailies and preparing for Yae Miko, since her banner arrives in just a few days. There should be a lot more to do once the 2.5 update arrives, so expect a lot more videos next week.

And that’s everything I’ve been up to this week. I also binged The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window, which is a parody of a certain type of thriller. I absolutely adored it, as it was so completely spot on. I then binged Stay Close, even though I could see from the start that it was pretty dumb. I think it’s just one of those shows that’s so bad it becomes good. I couldn’t stop watching even though I was rolling my eyes throughout. In fact, it’s the type of show that The Woman in the House was making fun of. So it’s kind of fitting that I watched them back-to-back. Anyway, let me know in the comments section which games you’re enjoying and I’ll see you back here next week with more of My Week Unwrapped.

Hi, this is ╬ô├╢Γò¥Γö£Γò¥ukasz, developer of Dungeon Legends 2. I have just added an option to stop the constant movement of player’s head, so if you don’t like it you can just turn it off in options now. Best wishes.

Thanks, Łukasz! I’ll check it out again.
