My Week Unwrapped: August 26, 2022 – Automatoys, Dexter Stardust and Genshin Impact

Hi everyone, and welcome back to My Week Unwrapped, where I discuss all the games I’ve been playing over the last seven days. I finally finished Dexter Stardust, but then spent most of my time with the new Genshin Impact update. I also played some of Automatoys, but didn’t have a chance to finish it. Overall, this was a week of quality if not quantity. So keep reading to learn more.

Automatoys

When I saw the videos of Automatoys, I was a little concerned about the controls. But my fears instantly melted away once I started playing. Each level is made up of a 3D toy that you play around with simply by tapping or holding a finger on the screen. Each time you do that, it controls different parts of the toy. The idea is to get a ball around all these little mechanisms to the hole at the very end. But if you mess up, you could get set back a bit or even lose the ball entirely and have to start over. There’s a timer and a 3-star scoring system for those who care, but I’m just enjoying completing each level for now. I only played through the first 6 of 12 levels and the 6th one gave me some trouble, mainly because I couldn’t control the pinball paddle very well. It’s a fun game, though, and I look forward to playing more when it’s not 90┬░ out so I can focus better on it. The game is also free to try with a one-time IAP to unlock the rest of the game. I highly recommend playing through the free levels to see how you feel about it. It’s a very tactile game, perfect for touchscreens, but does require some skill and patience to get through the trickier levels.

Dexter Stardust

I finally finished all the available episodes of Dexter Stardust. I say that because, while the story does end, it also previews a new adventure that we have to wait for. I absolutely adored this game, from the animation to the lovable characters, the humor, music, and of course the puzzles. It also felt like a good amount of content, since it took me several hours to complete. I highly recommend it to any point-and-click adventure fans. I’m just sad that I have to wait for more. I just want to go on endless adventures with Dexter and Aurora.

Genshin Impact

And last, the version 3.0 update finally arrived in Genshin Impact, bringing with it a huge new area called Sumeru. I already played around 15 hours over the last three days and feel like I barely scratched the surface. I was trying to rush through some things to unlock reputation quests, but I’ll likely take it easy going forward so I don’t burn out. Exploration is my favorite part of the game, so I want to savor it. I’m also saving for some upcoming characters I’m excited about, like Cyno and Dehya. We know Cyno’s kit from leaks, but we met Dehya in the archon quest and I’m so ready to get her on my team. I also love the music of Sumeru, especially this song. So much effort goes into making this a quality game, which is why I’m able to overlook the gacha stuff… to an extent. It just oozes quality from every pore and I’m eager to get back to playing.

And that’s everything I’ve been up to this week. I also watched caught up on American Horror Stories, which I like more than American Horror Story in some ways. It’s kind of like Black Mirror or The Twilight Zone but it also ties into the same universe as the original AHS. I also started Only Murders in the Building and it’s an absolute blast. I’m not sure why I didn’t watch it sooner. Anyway, let me know in the comments section which games you’re playing and I’ll see you back here next time with more of My Week Unwrapped!

I absolutely loved Dexter Stardust after finishing it yesterday. I am a little depressed this morning I canΓÇÖt play it :-(. I was able to figure out most of the puzzles on my own except for having no idea where to find the fuse. When I watched a little of your video, I realized you worked on the Mars puzzles in a different order than me. How cool that people can experience the story differently – kudos to the developer. I bet it will be on your top 10 list for 2022

I’m LOVING Dexter Stardust! If you see this a note to the developers for episode 3: Since it’s sort of an open world you can do things you’re not supposed to yet. I ate my tacos before I could find out that the monster likes beef and watermelon (which makes it vomit). It takes your antenna which you need to discover this and you have to restart the episode. All they need to do is not let Dexter eat any tacos with “I’m not hungry”. It’s still fun, but that part threw me off as I tried to entice the monster with the watermelon and Dexter could not do so.
