My Week Unwrapped: September 2, 2022 – Jacky’s Hidden Items, Lost Treasure 2, Railbound and More

Hi everyone, and welcome back to My Week Unwrapped, where I discuss all the games I’ve been playing over the last seven days. Again, Genshin Impact had most of my attention, but I also tried some other games, including one I’ve been looking forward to that’s releasing next week. Keep reading to see what I thought.

Jacky’s Hidden Items

I like the idea of Jacky’s Hidden Items. Each scene has exactly one object to find, but it’s intentionally warped and meant to camouflage into the overall image. For the most part, I enjoyed finding them. But some levels were so hard that I just tapped around until I got the item. The levels where you have to find people were usually the worst, because they were often very abstract and didn’t stand out at all. It’s also a pretty short game for the $5 it costs to unlock all the content. It only took me about a half hour and that was with some levels stumping me for a while. On top of that, it wasn’t tested properly on iPads. The instructions at the bottom of the screen cover part of the scene, so if the item is down there you won’t be able to see it. Once I realized that, I often just tapped a few times down there to be sure I wasn’t wasting my time. And last, the game doesn’t always recognize that I own the full game. I kept having to delete and reinstall the app to get rid of the ads. So overall, it’s a nice idea but I’m not sure it’s worth the price with all its issues.

The Hunt for the Lost Treasure 2

I normally play Syntaxity’s games when they release, but I missed their most recent ones. Lost Treasure 2 was free this week, so I figured I’d give it a try. Unfortunately, I’m not really enjoying it. These games feel dated and I can barely tell the difference between them anymore. There are just too many quality games fighting for my attention these days and I’d rather play something else than this. Still, it’s free at the moment, so download and try it for yourself.

Railbound

Railbound is the third puzzle game from Afterburn and it’s releasing next week on September 6th. I got my hands on an early copy and made some gameplay video, and also wrote a few words about it here. I’m impressed it with so far and look forward to playing more over the weekend. I’ll be sure to give more impressions once I’ve played more, but I expect it will be an easy game to recommend.

Genshin Impact

And last, I spent a lot more time with Genshin Impact, exploring Sumeru and helping the friendly little mushroom people. I still have some quests to complete and there’s a new seelie event that started today, so I expect the game will continue to dominate my time. I’m fine with that, though, because exploration and puzzles are my favorite parts of the game and I’m always happy to have more. Seriously, if you still haven’t tried it out I implore you to give it a chance.

And that’s everything I’ve been up to this week. I also binged all two seasons of Only Murders in the Building and am bummed that we have to wait for the next season. If you have access to Hulu, I highly recommend it. I’m also seeing NOPE tomorrow in theaters and I’m excited about that. Anyway, let me know in the comments which games you’ve been playing and I’ll see you back here next time with more of My Week Unwrapped.
