My Week Unwrapped: May 10, 2024 – Warbits Plus, Evergreen, Vampire Survivors, Loop Hero, Methods and More

Hi everyone, and welcome back to My Week Unwrapped, where I discuss all the games I’ve been playing over the last seven days. I continue to be addicted to Loop Hero, but the new Vampire Survivors DLC also occupied a good chunk of my time, along with a new Genshin Impact event. I also tried some new games and continued with Methods 2. There’s quite a bit to discuss, so pull up a chair and let’s get started.

Warbits Plus

I confess that I never played the original Warbits, but I just spent about an hour with the new Warbits Plus and I’m impressed. It’s a turn-based strategy game in which you move different units across the board and try to defeat the enemy in as few turns as possible. The main campaign consists of 20 missions, and I admit that doesn’t sound like a whole lot. But there are also 12 challenge levels and 12 puzzle levels. And if that’s not enough, there’s multiplayer mode. I’m not sure I’ll try the multiplayer but I am looking forward to playing more of the campaign mode. From what I’ve seen so far I would recommend it, but if you’re not sure you can watch some of my gameplay video to get a better sense of what it’s like.

Evergreen: The Board Game

I never heard of Evergreen: The Board Game, but I like the idea of building up a forest. I’ve also liked Horrible Guild’s previous digital board games, so I’m happy to give their latest a try. So far I only played through one game and that included the tutorial. Sadly, I managed to lose against the “easy” AI by just two points. I need to read up on the instructions and get better acquainted with the game before I make any more videos. But you can at least get a sense of the UI from my video. I’m a little disappointed it doesn’t play in landscape mode on iPad like their other games do, but it’s not a dealbreaker. I just need to get a better understanding of the game.

Vampire Survivors

Just one week after a free content update, Poncle’s Vampire Survivors is back with a full-blown DLC. It’s called Operation Guns and was made in collaboration with KONAMI to bring Contra characters and weapons to the game. This DLC has a ton of content — 11 new characters, 22 weapons, and a fun new boss. I already have my favorite weapons and I love seeing how crazy things get with them when they’re evolved. I highly recommend buying the DLC if you’re a fan of the game. I also have a walkthrough guide here if you need help, including all the weapon evolutions.

Loop Hero

Yes, I’m still obsessed with Loop Hero. I’ve managed to complete Chapter 3 and even beat 3/4 bosses in Chapter 4. But I somehow seem to be getting worse at the game. I unlock new cards, try a new deck that includes them, and then die way before I expect to. I’m determined to beat it, so I’ll keep working at it and adjusting my strategy. There is a hefty amount of luck involved, so sometimes it’s hard to tell if I have a bad strategy or the cards are just not playing in my favor. In any case, I still recommend it. At the very least, try the free demo.

Methods 2: Secrets and Death

Methods 2: Secrets and Death released last week, and it picks up where Methods: Detective Competition left off. I’ve now completed Chapter 35 and have mixed feelings about it. There’s so many characters and the story is getting so convoluted that I’m not sure I’m even following along anymore. But I’ll at least finish up the remaining chapters in this game and wait for the next installment. I’m not sure about playing through 100 chapters of this, though.

Genshin Impact

And last, I’m still playing Genshin Impact. In an unexpected turn on events, I decided I do in fact want Arlecchino, and the game was nice ending to let me win her 50/50 at 80 wishes. I’m having a lot of fun with her and loving her animations. I only wish I had her signature weapon because it’s a freaking scythe! But I spent 40 or so wishes on the weapons banner and didn’t get a 5-star and I’m afraid to keep pulling and get the wrong one. So I’ll probably wait for a rerun with a better weapons line-up. Aside from that, there’s a new music festival in Inazuma led by Itto, so I’ve put my exploration on hold until I finish that. Otherwise, I’m just farming artifacts for Arlecchino and Navia to make them stronger.

And that’s everything I’ve been up to this week. I also caught up with Elsbeth and A Gentleman in Moscow, but I believe more episodes are coming weekly. I finished American Horror Story: Delicate, which was pretty awful, and just started 3 Body Problem on Netflix. Damn, I watched a lot this week. I didn’t even realize. Anyway, let me know in the comments which games you’re playing and I’ll see you back here next time with more of My Week Unwrapped!
