A Fragile Mind: Walkthrough Guide

A Fragile Mind
By: Glitch Games

A Fragile Mind is a first-person point-and-click adventure from Glitch Games that has you waking up in a strange place, as usual, and trying to find the way out. It can get quite tricky, so this walkthrough guide will help you if you get stuck. Feel free to ask for extra help in the comments section.

Walkthrough:

You can watch my video for the full game here or continue below for my step-by-step guide:

Chapter 1:

1. Tap on the tree in front of you and look at the note. It says, “There is something behind the tree!” Take a photo of it and also grab the knife. Zoom back out.

2. Look down inside the small wall around the tree and pick up the painted rock. Zoom back out.

3. There’s nothing else here, so go through the door ahead of you.

4. Notice the door to room 1 is open, but the door to room 2 is locked. Head through to room 1. There’s a few things of note here. The puzzle on the left requires more information, so we’ll come back to it. But take a photo of the pattern on the window and the time on the clock. I recommend drawing a 1 on the photos to remember which room they’re from. Then leave the room.

5. Continue down the hall. Enter room 3 on the left. Pick up the painted rock from the chair. Also, take a photo of the pattern on the window and another of the clock. There are also some books on the floor. Take a photo of them and then lift each one and take another photo of the pattern drawn behind it. We’ll need it later. Then leave the room.

6. Enter room 4. Take a photo of the clock and the window. You can also place the two painted rocks down on the bed with the others. We’re missing one. Leave the room.

7. Continue down the hall and then go through the left doorway. Grab the painted rock and notice the painting of the tree on the wall. Remember the clue, There is something behind the tree!? So use the knife to cut through the painting. There’s a puzzle here that we’ll come back to. Leave the room. You can ignore the right doorway. We can’t do anything there yet. We can’t do anything ahead yet either.

8. Go back to room 4. Place the last painted rock down with the rest. Now, take out the photos of the books from the other room. Notice that under THE ECHO, there’s a dot and it says START HERE. So that’s the first rock. The path continues down to another dot under THE ROOM, then to THE MAN, then CRACKED CHALICE, and last is THE SUN. Arrange all the rocks in that order. Then pick up the Room 2 Key and look at the note. Take a photo.

9. Go back to room 2 and use the key to unlock the door. Head through. Take a photo of the window pattern and the clock. Notice the writing on the wall that says, “Turn the room upside down to find the answer.” Take a photo of it. Pick up the UV torch. Use the UV torch to see clues around the room. None of them are what we’re looking for, so leave.

10. We now have all the clues we need for the puzzle in room 1, so go back there. Tap on the puzzle on the wall and take out the image of the window from room 1. Copy the pattern onto the puzzle and press the big red button. Then pay attention to the arrows that light up. You end up with: UP, LEFT, DOWN, DOWN. Make note of that.

11. Now, do the same thing with the pattern from room 2. You get: DOWN, RIGHT, UP, RIGHT.

12. Next, do the same thing with the pattern from room 3. You get: RIGHT, RIGHT, DOWN, UP.

13. And last, do the same thing with the pattern from room 4. You get: LEFT, DOWN, UP, LEFT.

14. Go back to room 3 and pick up the book titled THE ROOM. The clue said to “turn the room upside down.” Use the UV torch on the back of the book and take a photo of the clue that lights up.

15. Go back to the left doorway that has the torn tree painting. Let’s solve the puzzle using the information we got from the puzzle in room 1. You need to press on one of the numbers and then use the blue directional buttons to enter the directions. It goes:

– 1. UP, LEFT, DOWN, DOWN
– 2. DOWN, RIGHT, UP, RIGHT
– 3. RIGHT, RIGHT, DOWN, UP
– 4. LEFT, DOWN, UP, LEFT

Then take a photo of the clue inside.

16. Leave the room and go through the right unmarked doorway. Use the clocks to figure out which buttons to press. The clocks are on 3:00, 7:00, 9:00 and 10:00. So press the buttons on 3, 7, 9, and 10. Take a photo of the three runes you see.

17. Leave the room and continue down the hall. There’s a box to the left of the locked gate. Take out all the photos of the runes you took and select those runes. The gate will open and you can head up the stairs to Chapter 2.

Chapter 2:

1. Ignore the east and west wings for now. Head up the stairs and take photos of the Maintenance Report for TV One and also the Piano Night and Game Night X posters. Then continue up the stairs to the Common Room.

2. There’s a lot to do here. First, inspect the left table and take a photo of the Maintenance Report for TV Seven. Then inspect the table to the right and grab the scrap of paper. Tap the middle table and place the scrap of paper down. You can arrange them, but we’re still missing a few pieces. There’s also a banner here but we’ll come back to it later.

3. Go towards the piano in the back on the left. Ignore the game on the table for now and just focus on the puzzle. Touch a few of the keys to see that some of them are broken and don’t make any sound. Look at the photo of the Piano Night poster again. It says, ASCENDING SILENCE – FOLLOWED BY A SPECIAL KEY ACT. So what you need to do is first find all the keys that are broken and play only those, going from left to right. (Note: If you’re playing without sound, just pay attention to which keys the game tells you are broken.) I numbered them for you below, with both iPad and iPhone versions. Take the key when you’re done.

4. Go back and this time go to the back right area with the TVs. For now, just look at the Maintenance Report for TV Five. We’ll come back to this later.

5. Go back down the stairs and head left towards the West Wing. Keep going until you get to the Laundry Room. There’s a keypad on the wall. Take out the photo of the Game Night X poster. It tells you how to turn Roman numerals into regular numbers. So X = 10, I = 1 and M = 1000. The keypad says M. I. X. on it, so you need to enter 1000, 1, 10. Use the two buttons to do this. The first button is 0 and the second is 1. Then the door to the laundry room will unlock. Go through.

6. Ignore the washing machine for now. Head through the next door to see a lever and double doors tied together. Use the knife to cut the rope. Then go through.

7. Pick up the extension cable. Also, look inside the bucket to find the storage room key. There’s also a puzzle box here but we’ll come back to that later. While here, use the storage room key to unlock the door in front of you. Now you can access this room from the hallway.

8. Go back to the double doors and use the extension cable to tie them together again.

9. Go back to the hallway and through the newly unlocked storage room door. Go through the left doorway to see the other side of the double doors. There’s numbers on it — 741 923. Take a photo.

10. Go back all the way to the stairs and head right towards the East Wing. Use the key to unlock the metal box on the left wall. Take out the photo of the numbers and enter them (741 923) into the keypad. Then press # or ENT. Head through the open gate to complete Chapter 2.

Chapter 3:

1. Continue on. Look at the bulletin board and take the scrap of paper. Also, take a photo of the Maintenance Reports for TV Four and other related issues, like the pipes.

2. Zoom back out and go through the doorway to the right. You’ll be outside. Pick up the gardening shears and then look inside the wall around the tree to find a Maintenance Report for TV Six. Take a photo.

3. Go back inside and continue down the hall. Enter the Chapel. Notice the box on the floor that says the candles are trick candles that re-light after you blow them out. Also, take a photo of the Maintenance Report for TV Two. Then go up to the pulpit and grab two more scraps of paper. Also, take a photo of the clue for the TVs.

4. Leave the chapel and go past the Visitor Room towards the exit. Face the exit and notice another Maintenance Report, this one for TV Three. Take a photo.

5. Go all the way back to the common room. First, use the gardening shears to cut the banner down and collect it.

6. Go back to the table with the scraps of paper on it. Place the three you found with the rest and complete the puzzle. It says, “THE CODE FOR THE VISITOR ROOM IS 9244327.” Take a photo. Then, grab just the piece that says “THE CODE.”

7. We finally have all the information we need to solve the TV puzzle so go back to the TV area. Take out all the photos you have of clues and work out which TV is which.

TV 1 has a cracked screen, so that’s easy to identify.
TV 2 is the perfect size for the bedrooms. If you go back to the bedrooms from earlier, you can see small yellow TVs in some of them. So that same TV is number 2.
TV 3 is or was mint green, since one of the residents demanded it be repainted. This is the trickiest of the bunch, since it’s green but not mint green. You can still figure it out through process of elimination once all the others are identified.
TV 4 is the only one with a wall mount.
TV 5 is temporarily fixed with yellow tape. So just find the yellow tape and trace it back to one of the TVs.
TV 6 has glitchy volume controls. So you can identify it by turning on the remaining TVs and seeing which one’s volume is all over the place.
TV 7 is the biggest and heaviest TV, so it should be easy to identify.

Now we have all of them. I also numbered them for you below.

8. Now, use the clue from the pulpit to solve the rest of the puzzle. Make sure all the TVs are off first. Then turn them on in this order: 7, 2, 4, 1, 3, 5, 6. I’ve numbered them for you in the photo below, but in the order you should turn them on.

9. Take a photo of the clue that appears on the top television.

10. Go back to the storage room and inspect the puzzle box. Take out the photo of the clue from the TV and then trace the pattern you see, starting with the orange circle and ending at the orange square. Then take the bellows and metal cog from inside.

11. Go back to the chapel and use the bellows to blow out the candles on each candelabra. Some of them will re-light. Take a photo and note down how many for each. You end up with 3, 1, 3, 6, 2.

12. Go to the Visitor Room, which is right outside the chapel. Tap on the keypad to the left of the door. Notice it says, “INSERT THE CODE BELOW.” If you try to enter the code that we got from the scraps of paper, nothing happens. What you have to do is insert the scrap of paper that says THE CODE on it. After that, you can type the code. Take out the photo you took of it and then enter 9244327 to unlock the door. Go through to the Visitor Room.

13. Pick up the washing powder. There’s also four pieces of paper on the tables but we’ll come back to that later. Take a look at the Glitch Cola machine just to see that the buttons are all icons of Glitch Games. Well come back to that, too.

14. Go back to the laundry room. Open the washing machine and place the dirty banner inside. Add detergent and then close the door. Press the START button. When it’s done, look at the banner and take a photo of it.

15. We need photos of five stickers and the images on the banner map tell us where to look. One of them is the washing machine, so take a photo of it while we’re here.

16. Go back up to the common room. Tap on the right table and solve the dice puzzle using the candles from the chapel. Just copy the number of candles from each candelabra. Then take the metal disc and metal cog from inside.

17. The piano is also shown on the banner map, so go to it and take a photo of the sticker on it.

18. The bulletin board is also on the banner map. We want the one in the East Wing. Find it and take a photo of the sticker.

19. The tree is also on the banner map. We want the one that’s right outside the door that faces the bulletin board. Again, take a photo of the sticker.

20. There’s just one more sticker to find. It’s in the chapel, behind the candelabra with six candles lit. Take a photo of it.

21. Go back to the Visitor Room. Use the banner map together with the photos of the five stickers you found to solve the Glitch Cola puzzle. I numbered them for you. Then take the metal cog.

22. Now, look at each sheet of paper on the tables. Take out the metal disc and line it up so the Glitch logo on the doc lines up with the logo on the sheet. Take a photo of the word and number that’s visible through the holes.

23. Go back to the common room and to the piano. There’s a card game on the table. Pull out all four photos you just took. We have SPADE 3, CLUB 13, HEART 15 and DIAMOND 5. So you need to place cards on top of the suits so they add up to the correct numbers. Or you can copy mine. Then take the metal cog.

24. Go back to the exit we found earlier. Head up the stairs and look at the panel to the left. Open it up and insert all four cogs. Then press the green button to unlock the door ahead of you. Go through to complete Chapter 3.

Chapter 4:

1. There’s a lot going on in this little room. Notice the board to the left and the shelves to the right. There’s also a keypad on the door. We’ll get to those, but first look at the coffee table and take a photo of the job ad. Then look at the desk.

2. On the desk, take a photo of the To-Do List and notice the book of Daily Anagrams. Then look at the computer monitor. There’s a pincode on a sticky note. It says SIX SIX SIX, but there’s a year after the S on the second and third SIXes. So those actually end up being IX, or 9. That makes the pincode 699. Enter that to unlock the computer. We need a disk before we can continue there.

3. Go back and look at the shelves to the right. Pick up the snail, lemon, star, cola and earth. Now, the anagrams book was our clue for this. You need to place the objects under another object that’s an anagram for it. So place the STAR under the RATS, the COLA under the COAL, the SNAIL under the NAILS, the EARTH under the HEART, and the LEMON under the MELON. Then take the floppy disk.

4. Go back to the desk and insert the floppy disk into the disk drive.

5. Look at the computer screen. We have 10 job candidates. The To-Do list said to “put the top 5 candidates in order of most suitable for the job.” The job ad on the coffee table tells us what they’re looking for in the candidates. There are five qualifications:

– Strong
– First Aid Trained
– Willing to work nights
– Able to drive
– Able to speak English and some Spanish

So look through all the candidates on the computer and take photos of any that are even the least bit qualified. You end up with: Thom Morrowitz, Natalia Ivanov, Jason Bethlam, Alice White and Mike Dropp.

6. Now we have to figure out the order of most qualified to least qualified. First, let’s go through the details for each candidate and see how many qualifications they meet.

Thom Morrowitz: medic (First Aid) + plays rugby, nicknamed the Tank (Strong) = 2
Natalia Ivanov: 2 week first aid course (First Aid) + lifted father out of wheelchair (Strong) + can work any hours given (Work Nights) + valid UK driving license (Able to Drive) = 4
Jason Bethlam: can work any hours (Work Nights) + was banned from driving for 10 months in February but it’s now December, so he can drive again (Able to Drive) + lived in Mexico and UK and is bilingual (Speaks English and Spanish) + worked as a nurse (First Aid) + bodybuilding (Strong) = 5
Alice White: fluent in English and Spanish (Speaks English and Spanish) + heavyweight boxing champion (Strong) + high level of first-aid knowledge (First Aid) = 3
Mike Dropp: former paramedic of 20 years (First Aid) = 1

7. Let’s put them all in order of most qualifications to least:

Jason Bethlam = 5
Natalia Ivanov = 4
Alice White = 3
Thom Morrowitz = 2
Mike Dropp = 1

Go to the board on the left wall and organize them in that order. Then take a photo of it.

8. Go to the door and tap on the keypad. Pull out the photo and press the buttons based on the shapes you see next to the candidates’ names. It should look like this when you’re done. Then go through to complete Chapter 4.

Epilogue:

1. Just tap on the table in front of you and watch the ending.

Congratulations! You completed the game!

Do you remember how we know what month it is in the game? In walkthrough you wrote it is December.
Spoiler alert for comment readers: Based on the excess wording regarding Jason’s driving, I suspected he might get a pass on it, but I couldn’t find a clue for current month in the game. That resulted in my pushing him down in rank until I peeked.

    1. AppUnwrapper

It says it right at the top of the candidate descriptions.

Oh, good grief. Thank you. I was looking all around, but never looking back at the applicant notes themselves, because I had already sketched a a scoring grid. Thank you.
