Hi everyone, and welcome back to My Week Unwrapped, where I discuss all the games I’ve been playing over the last seven days. Actually, this time it’s 14 days, as I didn’t cover enough games the previous week so I decided to wait and combine the two weeks. I spent most of my time working on two walkthroughs and I’m still working on more. They’re time-consuming, which is why I haven’t played too many other games on top of them. But hopefully I’ll be back to my usual rate of games soon enough. Anyway, let’s get started.
The Legend of Jaffa Brownie
The Legend of Jaffa Brownie appears to be a form of marketing for a snack cake that I’m not very familiar with. But it’s completely free and does seem to have had some care put into it. The cutscenes tell the story about Brownie and the adventure he sets off on. It’s a 3D action platformer, with some fetch quests thrown in. I’ve only played a bit so far and it seems well-made, but it’s not really my favorite genre. I get annoyed by 3D platformers, especially when you can’t control the camera to see what’s around you. Still, I think it’s worth checking out, especially since it’s free. Decide for yourself if it’s something you want to stick with.
purple (game)
Bart Bonte has been making color-themed puzzle games for a few years now and the latest is purple. Those of you who’ve played his games before should know what to expect. Each of the 50 levels has you turning the screen purple by solving the puzzle. But each level is different and you have to figure out on your own what it wants from you. I’m impressed that he keeps coming up with new ideas after all this time. It’s also completely free unless you want hints. Then you can either watch ads or pay to remove ads and get free hunts. So definitely give it a try if you’re at all interested in puzzles.
Mystery Detective Adventure
I’ve been working on my walkthrough for Mystery Detective Adventure for a few weeks now and I just finished my step-by-step guide for Case 2 and started playing through Case 3. Case 2 had easier puzzles and caused me far less frustration. I was hoping it would be the same for Case 3, but already we’re back to a puzzle that’s similar to one from Case 1 only worse. I’ll continue with it, but the heat here in NYC is making it hard just to exist, much less use my brain. Anyway, I still recommend playing it, though I do wish they’d stop with the annoying puzzles.
Adventure Escape Mysteries – Reunion
Reunion is the bonus chapter that comes with the VIP package of Puzzle Lovers in Adventure Escape Mysteries. I’ve been so busy with my Mystery Detective Adventure walkthrough that I haven’t had much time to spend on this one. But I’ll definitely work on it more this week and also let you know if I think it’s worth paying for.
Adventure Escape Mysteries – Puzzle Lovers
I finished my Puzzle Lovers walkthrough last week and I think it was a nice change of pace from the usual murder mysteries or battling evil villains. I also like that there’s replay value since you can only get to know each character so much from one playthrough. I don’t think choices mattered as much as they did in The Covenant, but I could be wrong. In any case, it’ll be free in a few weeks for everyone and I’ll try to let you know before then if it’s worth buying it early for the bonus Reunion chapter.
Genshin Impact
Quite a lot has gone on in Genshin Impact over the last two weeks. We got a new update that brought Sigewinne’s banner and a new monthly event called Imaginarium Theater. I was stressed out by this event at first because I didn’t read all the instructions. But once I started taking advantage of boons I found it much more doable and was able to complete it and earn all the rewards. I don’t love all the restrictions, but I don’t hate it like I did at first glance. Now I’m intrigued and kind of looking forward to next month’s version. I think we also have the summer event coming soon that usually includes a temporary area to explore. For now, I’m just doing all the little events and waiting for 4.8 to arrive.
And that’s everything I’ve been up to this week! I also saw Fly Me to the Moon in theaters. It was somewhat cheesy, but still good fun. I also finished season 2 of Resident Alien, but Netflix doesn’t seem to have season 3 yet. So instead I binged all of Bodies in just a few days. The time travel stuff messes with my head and not everything made sense, but it was still a good watch. Anyway, let me know in the comments section what you’ve been playing and I’ll see ton back here next time for more of My Week Unwrapped!
