Reigns: Her Majesty
By: Devolver Digital
One of the trickier objectives (Royal Deeds) in Reigns: Her Majesty is the Celestial, which asks you to summon an eclipse. It’s also necessary to reach any of the endings. This guide will help you do so.
There’s a number of steps you need to take first, but I take you through them all in my full walkthrough. This guide is assuming you’ve already done all them and need help specifically with summoning the eclipse.
Early on, you’ll meet the All-Mother and she’ll tell you:
“In the maze of green, follow the sun to make it disappear.”
Once you have the mirror, pistol and dueling room, duel yourself in the mirror. The card you fire on says:
Hidden in the garden maze is one great, sacred crown: “Follow the sun, dear child,” she says…
It’s the All-Mother again, reminding you to follow the sun in the garden maze.
When the All-Mother upgrades your spellbook to the Celestial Spellbook, she also tells you to summon the eclipse in the maze. Well, the way she says it is not so direct. She tells you, “In the center of the labyrinth, call down the hour of the black sun. There, we will meet again.”
You need the Destiny Clock and to get to the garden maze. Either the king will invite you to go with him or you can use the Destiny Clock on an animal and then follow it there.
Once in the maze (or verdant garden), you need to follow the sun. This means paying attention to the direction of the shadows. It can be tricky at first, but you should get the hang of it eventually. Try to visualize where the sun would be shining from to create each shadow. If there is no shadow or sun or there’s no difference between the paths, either path is fine. And if you see a bench, I recommend sitting on it, but it might not matter. If you do it right, after about 10-15 cards you should see the moon monument.
Use the Destiny Clock on the moon monument to summon the eclipse and get the Celestial objective.
Now, to get out of there without getting lost, go left for “Mother?!,” then go left twice more, forward, then follow the voices. As far as swiping goes, those choices are all in the same direction. When you get out of the garden, everyone will react to the eclipse. The eclipse will remain until you die. At that point, you’ll meet the All-Mother again and your spellbook will have a crown on it. It’s not a permanent upgrade, though. If you don’t use it now, you have to summon the eclipse again in order to get the crown.
